Brookwood, A Young Women’s Residence Inc.
Brookwood Florida is a non-profit agency, “dedicated to providing troubled adolescent girls with an alternative living environment and therapeutic program encompassing education, employability skills, independent living training and counseling that will prepare them for self-sufficiency or successful family reunification.” www.brookwoodflorida.org

St. Petersburg Northeast High School Student Of The Month Award
Nominated by an instructor and selected by faculty, the St. Sunrise Rotary Club honors students, parents and teachers for their performance at a monthly breakfast meeting.

Rotary Interact Youth Club
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 14-18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but Interact clubs are self-governing and self-supporting. Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through projects, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs. And, in the process, Interactors develop leadership skills and learn the value of hard work. Interactors also often spearhead the formation of Rotaract clubs and participate in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). Interactors also often go on to become Youth Exchange students or Ambassadorial Scholars.

Rotary S4TL Student Leadership Summer Camp
S4TL (Seminar For Tomorrow’s Leaders) is a joint youth Leadership Project of our District along with 6890 and 6960. It encompasses the Rotary Clubs from Citrus County to Naples, across to Sebring, and up to east of Lakeland. The program is supported by 149 eligible Rotary Clubs and approximately 110 public and private high schools in Florida. The program is held at the campus of Florida Southern College and occurs during the Father’s Day week in June. The 2007 Seminar is scheduled for June 17-23, 2007. This year will be the project’s 27th anniversary. Each club is guaranteed at least 1 spot for an eligible incoming senior for the 2007-2008 school year. www.rotary6950.org

The Pinellas Technical Education Center Student Scholarships
St. Pete Sunrise Rotary provides two scholarships annually to local students who have demonstrated an interest and desire to learn technical and business related skills that will contribute to their own success and that of the region. www.myptec.org

Pinellas Education Foundation Doorways Technical Scholarships
Pinellas students in grades 9 – 10 may be nominated for a Doorways Scholarship. If selected, they will earn a Florida Prepaid Scholarship by fulfilling a contractual obligation to complete 4 years of high school, maintain at least a “C” in all classes, study for tests, complete homework assignments and remain crime and drug free”. pinellaseducation.org

Annual Disabled/Open Midwinter Regatta
Supporting participants with pre-race breakfast at the Sailing Center dock. www.spyc.org

Salvation Army, Red Kettle Holiday Volunteer Service
The traditional red kettle is an integral part of the Christmas scene, with millions of dollars donated each year to aid needy families, seniors, and the homeless. www.salvationarmyusa.org

National and International Works

Rotary Shelter Box Program
Providing Shelter To Victims Of War And Natural Disasters – “A dry shelter, a warm bed, light & heat, clean water, cooking aids, tools, for ten people – in a box, sent to disaster areas around the world, wherever they’re needed.” St. Pete Sunrise Rotary has contributed relief boxes to the Asian Tsunami Disaster, Beirut, Lebanon, Yogyakarta, Java, Grenada and several areas in the USA. www.shelterbox.org

Rotary International Foundation Membership Contributions
Regular membership donations that directly support the objectives of Rotary International, and Rotary District Chapters, both nationally and internationally. These funds support in part, the eradication of Polio as well as general health and welfare initiatives globally.

New Service Projects

New Service Projects are proposed annually. St. Pete Sunrise Rotary also works with other local and regional clubs on service projects to meet District and International objectives. In the past, International Projects have included raising funds for new wells in India, and health and education initiatives in other Third World Countries. Sunrise Rotary partners with the St. Petersburg Downtown Rotary on the annual Pig Roast, the largest US fund raiser for the international Shelter Box Program.
